The Reception
Colleen Gustavson Brownell, Realtor of The Local Group at our brokerage organized the Welcome Reception during the Town of Leesburg’s First Friday of November.
The evening was filled with new and familiar faces, friends and family, and other artists from the area. Ali’s paintings evoked joy in all viewers and brightened up our space with all her seascapes and reptiles.
Throughout the month of November we are excited to have Ali’s work hanging in our Leesburg Office, for visitors to view her incredible work.

A Glimpse into Ali’s Journey
Ali B Wiese’s journey as an artist is as unique as her artwork. Growing up in the quaint lake town of St. Joseph, MI, her surroundings seeped into her soul, deeply influencing the subjects and themes of her art. While the beaches, lakes, and sunsets of her hometown often make an appearance in her pieces, her artistic exploration didn’t stop there. Over the past twenty years, Ali has been drawn to the waters of the Midwest, the West Coast, and South Florida.
Parallel to her evolving artistry, Ali practiced for 15 years as a clinical therapist, specializing in adolescent depression and anxiety. This background doesn’t merely resonate as a part of her bio but finds its way, subtly and profoundly, into her creative process. As she transitioned to full-time artistry, moving with her husband and two young daughters to northern Virginia, a delightful “Surf & Turf” theme emerged. Combining the charm of the Virginian cows with her enduring love for the ocean, Ali presents whimsical pieces featuring cows and other animals on surfboards โ a guaranteed smile-inducer!
Education and Artistic Development
Ali’s educational background is as diverse as her art. She explored her passion for art at Northwestern University, followed by the University of San Francisco under the mentorship of the esteemed artist, Glenn Hirsch. Her exploration of pastels began with the award-winning pastelist, Lori Goll, in 2019, and this journey continues today.
Artistic Medium and Inspiration
Water bodies, majestic ocean waves, and wildlife dominate Ali’s inspirations. She offers a vivid portrayal of these subjects through her preferred medium – pastel. These pastel paintings, which Ali describes as the “most permanent of all media,” exude vibrancy, color, and emotion. By using museum-quality glass for framing, she ensures that each piece retains its beauty and longevity.
Apart from her signature pastel paintings, Ali also offers “floor art” – canvas rugs that can be customized based on size, color, and theme preferences.
Commissions and Exhibitions
Ali B Wiese’s art has graced various juried shows and art festivals across the East Coast. From the Western Loudoun Art & Studio Tour in 2023 to the Seaside Art Gallery’s “International Miniature Show” in Nags Head, NC, her presence in the art community is widespread. Her most recent solo show was held at Muz & Rose in downtown Leesburg in 2022.
